(Mansfield, Ohio) – Kathy Salem, candidate for the Ohio State Senate in District 22, has secured the endorsement of the United Auto Workers Region 2B. Kathy is honored to receive this endorsement because the dignity of work is paramount to the future of Ohio and the future of our Nation.

 
Autoworkers, along with many other Union brothers and sisters, built the City of Mansfield, Richland County, Ashland County, and Medina County. In the coming days, we will be releasing a comprehensive plan to bring Union jobs back to the 22nd District. Our Union platform says this – Kathy Salem stands in solidarity with you, the worker.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (Medina, OH)— Kathy Moses Salem, a dedicated public servant and active member of her Medina, Ohio community secures her nomination for Ohio Senate’s 22nd District. Salem, hailing from the rural Midwest, possesses an unwavering passion to advocate for the community to which she feels an indelible connection. As a community leader and philanthropist, she supports causes from education to the arts. As a Democrat, she stands for equitable access to healthcare, quality education, economic opportunities for all, and environmental protection.

Salem worked her way up in the advertising business at the Plain Dealer in the mid-seventies while raising a family and later graduated from Case Western Reserve University. She then spent time in Washington D.C. where she worked as a lobbyist and learned life-long values such as integrity, follow-through, and relationship building. Since 2014 she has been Managing Director and Producer of Night is Alive Productions, a jazz agency that is dedicated to recording music by some of the most inventive musicians of this era.

When given the opportunity to represent Ohio District 22, Salem will work tirelessly for her community. Her key initiatives include access to healthcare, education, and transportation for rural Ohioans. “There is a healthcare crisis in rural communities which experience a higher mortality rate due to the lack of access to doctors and hospitals. We need to do better in providing services and transportation to these areas.” Salem also believes in providing more affordable education opportunities to underserved regions and, as a union supporter, will work to strengthen enrollment in trade schools and internship opportunities for high school graduates. Salem also believes that all Ohioans should feel safe in their communities and supports better hiring practices and training for police departments, access to specially trained mental and abuse officers, and expanded community involvement by law enforcement agencies.
